Get to Know Dr. Alton McWhorter
Originating from Jackson, MS, Dr. McWhorter has been practicing dentistry for well over four decades. It was during senior year in college when he finally decided to attend dental school, and he’s never looked back since. Today, he enjoys meeting new people every day as well as helping patients experience pleasant visits at the dental office while improving their smiles. Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. McWhorter first attended Mississippi College in Clinton, MS for his undergraduate degree. He later studied at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Science in Memphis, TN. He went on to practice general dentistry for a few years before going back to school to specialize in pediatric dentistry. Dr. McWhorter has also been a full-time faculty member at Texas A&M College of Dentistry since 1986, and he’s even practiced part-time while working at the college.
Other than attending continuing education courses to expand his expertise and techniques, Dr. McWhorter is also a proud member of several professional organizations, including the:

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
If you don’t find him at the office treating and improving patients’ pearly whites, Dr. McWhorter is likely spending time with his wife as well as their loved ones. He enjoys reading and traveling whenever he gets the opportunity, and he’s never afraid to try something new!
